Principal's Message

Welcome to the homepage of the Coolidge Alternative Program, home of the Knights.

The Coolidge Alternative Program (CAP) proudly serves both the students and families of the Coolidge community as well as from surrounding communities and districts.  The population at CAP fluctuates around 175 students throughout the year, servicing grades 7th-12th.  We take special pride in our high school program as it follows an online-based learning program and is split into two sessions (7:25-12:25 and 11:30-4:30.)  This split gives us the opportunity to offer students an alternative schedule that allows for more flexibility for some who might have a job, family obligations, or who simply prefer a smaller setting.

Here at the Coolidge Alternative Program one of the most common questions that is asked by new/prospective students and their families is what kinds of students make up an alternative program. Well, the long and short answer is: all kinds of students! The vast majority of our student body is here for what we refer to as “credit recovery,” as in a student moved or failed a class in their high school career and are currently behind on credits to graduate. They can easily come to CAP and get caught up on their credits. A very small number of our students enroll at CAP due to behavior issues, as most people tend to associate with alternative programs. Students might attend CAP because of an attendance issue at their previous school, but are able to get it straightened out here because of our flexible schedule. The last category of students, and our fastest growing, is of students who choose to attend our alternative program because they either wish to accelerate their learning and graduate early, prefer a computer-based (still with a classroom teacher) education, prefer a smaller school setting and campus, or just haven’t found success at a traditional high school setting.

Although we are the newest addition to the Coolidge Unified School District, we are quickly establishing ourselves as a campus with high standards of education, discipline, and graduation.

As your principal at CAP, I am very excited to be working with all of our amazing students and staff.  Thank you for taking some time to visit our page and please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or stop by to visit our campus for a tour.
